PHIL NEVILLE has been slammed after saying he would have "two-footed" Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky if he tried to showboat in front of him.

The Czech was in fine form as Arsenal beat Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup, scoring one and setting up another.

Rosicky also attempted an outrageous "no look" pass as the Gunners marched into the fifth round.

Speaking on Match of the Day Two, Neville said: "If that was a training session and somebody did that I'd be first over there and I'd probably look to two-foot him or take him out of the game.

"If somebody did that in training to me, winding me up, I would be straight in there. I'd smash them."

Former Manchester United and Everton star Neville described his comments as "tongue in cheek" after he was lambasted on Twitter by irate Arsenal fans.

"Phil Neville talking about Rosicky shows how clueless he is," wrote Sean Mills.

Another user posted: "Phil Neville's comments on Rosicky typify the kind of player he was.

"No technical ability. Just hack the opponent. Reckless aggression."

Neville, who was criticised during the 2014 World Cup for his "robotic" commentary, tweeted: "The Rosicky 'look one way pass the other' piece was tongue in check by someone who wasn't capable of doing such!!!"
