Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini is willing to offer James Milner a staggering £200,000-a-week in a bid to lure him to the San Siro.

Mancini is waiting to raid his former club for Milner if the England midfielder fails to agree a new contract with Manchester City.

Fellow Serie A giants Roma are also keen on Milner, as exclusively revealed by Starsport, but it is understood they will not be able to match Inter's offer.

Milner will become a free agent at the end of this season and has been able to talk to other clubs since the start of this month.

Negotiations between his representatives and Etihad bosses about a new deal have been on-going for more than four months.

But no agreement has been reached, leaving Milner's future in limbo heading into the second half of the Premier League season.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to keep the versatile star and remains confident of securing his services.

But Milner knows the Chilean will be trying to sign midfield reinforcements this summer - including German star Marcos Reus - and wants assurances he will still be an integral part of his plans.

Milner has been made aware of Mancini's strong interest in him and is understood to be tempted by a move to rejoin his former City boss and double his wages.

The 29-year-old also knows he could be about to sign the last major contract of his career and the £30m package on offer at Inter would be hard to turn down.

Mancini lured Milner to City from Aston Villa in 2010.

Liverpool and Arsenal are also keen on signing Milner and pressure is mounting on the champions to secure his long-term future.

Meanwhile, City keeper Joe Hart insists last weekend's shock home defeat to Arsenal will not derail his side's chances of defending their title.

The setback left Pellegrini's men five points behind Chelsea at the top of the table but England star Hart said: "All is not lost. We are confident and sometimes stuff happens, you lose games, it wasn't down to a lack of effort or a lack of ability."

"It was a penalty and a set-piece that cost us. We have performed well for the majority of the season. Sometimes it happens, but we will bounce back."

"There is a long way to go. We are together. We are a great group. I enjoy each player's company and it helps there is a lot of quality in the dressing room."
