David Trezeguet set to retire, could become Juventus director
Rumours in Italy suggest that David Trezeguet has reportedly decided to retire from football - and could become a director at Juventus.

The French striker had recently completed a spell in the Indian Super League with Pune FC.

He was considering an offer from Serie B side Modena, but Argentine newspapers report this evening that the 37-year-old is hanging up his boots.

Italian media are already suggesting he could return to Italy and Turin for a job with the Juventus board.

Trezeguet's farewell has been for us something expected. We were waiting for his return because he received an offer from Modena (Serie B club). It would have been a dream for us to see him play again - even in a lower league.

Trezeguet is very beloved here in Italy and is recognized as a champion not only from Juventus' supporters, but from every Italian football fan. He was a fantastic striker, unbeatable in the penalty box - a real 'goal machine'.

In Italy we remember him for his ability to play with Alessandro Del Piero: two wonderful players gave us one of the best teams we have seen in the last 20 years. He is revered for staying at Juventus when they were relegated to Serie B after the Calciopoli-drama: he have left - like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, for example - but he didn't want to leave his squad. What a big heart: everybody loves him for this.

We have had nothing official, yet, but he'll retire - now seem to be the right moment as he is 37 years old.

He'll leave something in the French history because he has scored 34 goals for France and one we and Italy can't forget, during the final of Euro 2000. We'll not forget too that he missed the penalty kick in 2006 against Italy.

One of the greatest strikers in French history with so many goals. But a regret: he was 'only' a supersub, because of Thierry Henry, because of Raymond Domenech but also because of him and his play - a great striker, but an average all round football player.
