Doncaster Rovers 0 : 0 Notts County - Thomas and Derry see red in draw

Doncaster were left to rue a series of wasted opportunities as they missed the chance to climb seven places into the League One play-offs as they were held to a goalless draw by Notts County.

But the big talking point came towards the final throes when County striker Kwame Thomas was sent off, eventually, while his boss Shaun Derry was also sent to the stands.

Despite Rovers' domination, it was County who went closest to scoring after 14 minutes when veteran Alan Smith fired goalwards from 30 yards, only to see his effort clatter the bar and almost rebound in off the diving Stephen Bywater's back.

James Coppinger headed Reece Wabara's cross narrowly wide from six yards as Rovers pressed at the other end.

Nathan Tyson had half a chance early in the second half as he rounded keeper Roy Carroll but his stab at goal was easily cleared by Hayden Mullins.

Harry Forrester was the catalyst of most of Rovers' attacks and he saw a shot well saved by Carroll, who then reacted well to divert sub Curtis Main's effort wide.

Thomas was then booked for a second time for time-wasting as he left the pitch but referee Richard Clark failed to show a red card with his error being highlighted by the Doncaster players.

Confusion reigned and tempers began to flare on the touchline as Clark realised his mistake, with Derry being ordered to the stands in the ensuing melee.

Forrester then had a last-gasp curler tipped over by Carroll and Main had a shot blocked as the game ended in stalemate.
