Berlin (AFP) - Hamburg were on Monday fined 55,000 euros ($58,000) by the German Football Association (DFB) after a fan insulted Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery on the pitch during last October's German Cup match.
After scoring Bayern's third goal in their 3-1 victory, Ribery was insulted, then struck in the face by the fan's scarf during injury time at Hamburg's Imtech Arena in the second round match on October 29 before security guards intervened.
Hamburg have been fined for insufficient security measures and the hefty sum also includes punishment for three separate incidents of flares being lit by their fans.
"That shouldn't have happened, but it's not so bad," the Frenchman told Sky Sports after incident back in October after the fan breached security to run onto the pitch, then showed the Frenchman the middle finger with both hands.
"It's always forgotten after the game. I don't know what that was all about. It wasn't an easy game for me, I got kicked a lot."
Hamburg later apologised to Ribery on social media site Twitter.
German Cup holders Bayern host second-division side Eintracht Braunschweig in the last-16 tie on March 4.
