Laurent Blanc speaks to French press about Tottenham linked Adrien Rabiot's future

PSG boss Laurent Blanc has said he wants to keep midfielder Adrien Rabiot, report French website sports.fr.

The midfielder had been strongly linked to Tottenham Hotspur for a mid-season loan move, with the Evening Standard claiming Rabiot was keen on the switch.

Yet despite the talk, there is no progression in terms of a switch, and Blanc's desire to keep the midfielder around may see him remain in Paris.

He said: "It is not impossible that one of our players will go away. He is a young player who has just extended. I hope he stays at Paris Saint-Germain because for me he is the future of PSG, but we can not control everything.

"He has ambitions very high, as do those around him of course, I still hope to keep him."

Rabiot's problem is PSG have one of the strongest midfields in Europe, with the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Yohan Cabaye, Thiago Motta and Marco Verratti all in front of him competing for a first team spot.

The 19-year-old has made just three Ligue 1 starts this season, playing just 13 minutes combined in two late substitute appearances over the last two matches.

He started earlier this month and showed his talent, scoring and playing well despite a surprise 4-2 loss at Bastia.

Laurent Blanc vouching for his talent and admitting he does not want to let him go speaks volumes for his ability despite his lack of playing time, and is encouraging for Spurs if they are able to bring him in even on loan.
