Doncaster Rovers vs Barnsley preview - Bywater to make Rovers bow
Posted Friday, January 16, 2015 by PA
Stephen Bywater is expected to make his debut for Doncaster against South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley.
The experienced goalkeeper has joined on a deal until the end of the season, having this week been released by Championship club Millwall. The 33-year-old will replace youngster Marko Marosi between the posts.
Doncaster have no new problems following the FA Cup defeat at Bristol City in midweek. Boss Paul Dickov reported one or two minor knocks but the Scot should have an unchanged pool of outfield players to pick from.
Midfielder Dean Furman is still away with South Africa for the African Nations Cup and centre-half Rob Jones (knee) remains some way off a return from injury.
Barnsley defender Peter Ramage is an injury doubt for the game.
Ramage, on-loan from Crystal Palace, was forced out of last week's win against Yeovil with an unspecified problem and will be assessed by manager Danny Wilson. George Williams is on standby to make his first start for the club.
Wilson has no other new injury worries and could hand a full debut to Milan Lalkovic, who stepped off the bench last week, while other recent loan recruits Alex Kiwomya (Chelsea), Ben Pearson (Manchester United) and George Waring (Stoke) are expected to keep their places.
Barnsley are chasing back-to-back league wins for only the second time this season.
