Newport are on course for the League Two play-offs after coming from behind to beat Carlisle 2-1 at Rodney Parade.

Courtney Meppen-Walter gave the Cumbria side the lead but Adam Chapman converted from the spot before Lee Minshull fired the Exiles into fourth.

County were flying high in fifth place at the start of the day, but it was the struggling Cumbrians who took the lead in the 11th minute through Meppen-Walter.

The hosts could only clear a long-ball for a corner and the powerful midfielder rose highest to nod Kyle Dempsey's corner past Exiles goalkeeper Joe Day.

But Justin Edinburgh's side hit-back in the 45th minute after Carlisle captain Danny Grainger pulled Ryan Jackson down in the box.

Referee Darren Sheldrake pointed to the spot and Chapman cooly slotted home.

Newport turned up the pressure fewer the break and finally hit-the-front in the 70th minute through Minshull.

The midfielder fired in a rebound from 12-yards after Dan Hanford had denied Aaron O'Connor from close range.
