Torres, no ordinary player

The gates of the Atletico Madrid training ground were teeming with fans waiting for a glimpse of their idol, Fernando Torres, as he left following the first training session which marked his 'Rojiblanco' return.
A number of players stopped in front of the group of supporters, leaning out of car windows to sign autographs or even posing with them for a selfie; others waved from the car without stopping, and some even slipped out quietly by another exit. But not Torres.
To everyone's surprise, 'El Nino' appeared at the gates on foot and, while his car waited a few metres behind, he decided to spend some time with his fans.
The club opened the gates and, between 14.20 and 14.50, Torres took time out for each one, signing their boots, their shirts and their posters. They had the opportunity to get up close, to hug him and kiss him, give him their support and thank him. 'El Nino' is home.
The first thing Fernando Torres did as he came through terminal T4 of Madrid's Barajas Airport was to high five the fans waiting there to greet him. His response was out of the ordinary to say the least but it came as no surprise to my colleague, Alberto R. Barber, who simply said: "He's no ordinary player". And he is right.
