Preston North End vs Barnsley preview - Gallagher not ready to roll

Paul Gallagher is rated doubtful for Preston's clash with Barnsley at Deepdale.

The on-loan Leicester forward came off in the win at Peterborough due to an ankle knock and will be assessed prior to kick-off.

Both David Buchanan (hamstring) and fellow defender Bailey Wright (groin) played in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Monday and could return to Simon Grayson's squad.

That would leave only Joe Garner and Jordan Hugill on the sidelines, with the forwards missing out due to respective knee problems.

Barnsley will be without suspended goalkeeper Ross Turnbull following his dismissal in last week's home win against Leyton Orient.

Turnbull was sent off for handling outside his penalty area so replacement Adam Davies is expected to resume and make his first league start since September.

Defender Joe Dudgeon is hoping to be back in action following a three-game absence due to a hamstring injury and that could mean a return to the bench for teenager Mason Holgate.

Manager Danny Wilson has no new injury concerns as the Reds chase their first league win on the road since victory at Sheffield United on November 1.
