Middlesbrough vs Nottingham Forest preview - No new worries for Boro

Posted Wednesday, December 24, 2014 by PA

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has no new injury or suspension problems for his side's encounter with Nottingham Forest.

Karanka could decide to mix things up after watching his side slump to a 2-0 defeat to fellow promotion hopefuls Ipswich last time out.

Lee Tomlin and Kike provide additional striking options should Karanka wish to add firepower to his side.

Long-term absentees Mustapha Carayol and Damia Abella are not yet ready to return.

Forest will wait to see if Dexter Blackstock is fit enough to be involved.

Blackstock started ahead of leading scorer Britt Assombalonga against Leeds last weekend but was forced off shortly before half-time with what was described as a "nerve problem". The striker, who has only recently returned from almost a year out with a second serious knee injury, will be assessed.

Reds boss Stuart Pearce has no other new problems, although on-loan winger Tom Ince has returned to Hull after he was recalled by his parent club.

Central defender Jack Hobbs was expected to resume full training on Tuesday, having been out since mid-September with an ankle injury. Midfielder Andy Reid is also nearing a long-awaited return to the squad and should be back in full training next week, following three months out with a groin problem.
