Bordeaux 0 : 5 Lyonnais - Lyon move second with huge win

Alexandre Lacazette scored in each half as Lyon moved second in Ligue 1 after a comprehensive 5-0 victory over 10-man Bordeaux at Stade Chaban-Delmas.

Lacazette opened the scoring five minutes before half-time and Corentin Tolisso doubled their lead 10 minutes after the break, while the hosts lost Nicolas Pallois to a straight red card after 65 minutes.

Goals in the final 10 minutes from Nabil Fekir, Jordan Ferri and Lacazette's second sealed a fourth straight league win for Hubert Fournier's side, who sit two points behind leaders Marseille, while Bordeaux dropped down to sixth.

The hosts went closest during the early exchanges when Thomas Toure picked out Cheikh Diabate but he could only head straight at Anthony Lopes from six yards.

Fournier's side settled in well as they dominated possession in the opening 20 minutes but Bordeaux showed all the trademarks of a team who had gone the first half of the season unbeaten at home.

When Lyon did manage to pierce the Bordeaux backline, Lacazette could only fire straight at Cedric Carrasso after turning well on the edge of the area.

However, with half-time fast approaching, it was Lyon, and Lacazette, who finally made a deserved breakthrough.

Maxime Gonalons and Fekir combined to release Lacazette and his confident 18-yard finish was that of a striker playing at the top of his game, as Carrasso was left well beaten in the Bordeaux goal.

Lyon began the second half very much in second gear but some poor Bordeaux defending gifted them a second goal 11 minutes after the restart.

Ludovic Sane's poor clearance was blocked by Lacazette and, when the ball fell at Clinton N'Jie's feet, he found the unmarked Tolisso who finished neatly.

The visitors should have wrapped things up just a couple of minutes later but, after being played in by N'Jie on the counter, Ferri saw his shot smothered by the onrushing Carrasso.

Bordeaux's evening went from bad to worse in the 65th minute when Pallois was given a straight red for a foul on N'Jie and with the in-form defender went any chance of a comeback.

Lyon added three more goals in the latter stages to wrap up all three points and bring a successful end to the first half of the season, with victory taking them ahead of Paris St Germain in the table.

Firstly, Fekir got on the end of a long punt up field by Lopes before rounding Carrasso and sliding the ball into an empty net on 81 minutes.

Lacazette then took full advantage of an overstretched Bordeaux defence to slide in Ferri and he blasted past Carrasso from 12 yards.

Finally, with just seconds left to play, Henri Bedimo picked out Lacazette and he volleyed beyond Carrasso from 12 yards to claim his 18th goal of the season and his seventh in four games.
