Tongo Doumbia netted a first-half equaliser to earn Toulouse a share of the spoils from a 1-1 draw against Guingamp at Stadium Municipal.

Thibault Giresse handed the visitors an early lead before Doumbia struck his second goal of the season midway through the half to end his side's two-match losing run, although they could have won it had Wissam Ben Yedder converted a second-half penalty.

The point moves Alain Casanova's men up a spot in the Ligue 1 table to 14th, while the result sees Guingamp's five-match winning run in all competitions ended as they moved level on points with 11th-placed Nice.

The away side took the lead after seven minutes as Claudio Beauvue found Christophe Mandanne in the middle and his header from the edge of the penalty area was punched away by goalkeeper Ali Ahamada into the path of Giresse, who produced an astonishing left-footed volley from 10 yards.

Toulouse came close to netting an equaliser five minutes later but Ben Yedder's long-range free-kick - heading for the bottom-right corner of the net - brushed past the post.

But after 24 minutes Doumbia was on target as he retrieved the ball from the Guingamp defence and quickly combined with Adrien Regattin, who fed the ball back to him on the left side of the 18-yard box and the Malian sent home a low shot to fool Ahamada.

Guingamp almost went ahead for the second time 10 minutes before the break but Mandanne's solo effort sailed just over the bar.

Martin Braithwaite came close for the hosts four minutes after the break but his long-range effort was well blocked by Jonas Lossl.

The visitors went in search of a second moments later as Jeremy Pied's free-kick was sent directly towards the Toulouse goal and the ball bounced dangerously in front of the goal before Ahamada managed to block it.

Braithwaite had another chance for Toulose, forcing Lossl into a full stretch across the goal to hold him out.

Ten minutes after the break Benjamin Angoua conceded a penalty for a foul on Uros Spahic but Ben Yedder's spot-kick to the centre of the Guingamp goal was deflected away by the foot of Lossl, who dived to the right.

Jocelyn Gourvennec's side came close as the half wore on but Pied's shot from 25 yards out went inches over the bar as the points were shared.
