Pearson was involved in a heated row with a fan during his side's 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on December 2 at the King Power Stadium.

He refused to apologise for the argument at the time but admitted the offence at a personal hearing on Friday and was warned by the FA over his future conduct.

The statement from the FA read: "Following an Independent RegulatoryCommission hearing, Nigel Pearson has been fined 10,000, will serve a one-matchtouchline suspension, and warned as to his future conduct, subject to anyappeal, after he admitted using abusive and/or insulting words towards aspectator.

"The sanction will not come into effect until the end of the appeal period."

Leicester are on an 11-game winless run and are bottom of the PremierLeague and a statement from the club revealed that Pearson and his representatives hadrequested written reasons for the sanctions.

"The club has concluded an internal review of the incidentduring the Liverpool fixture and considers its own review to be closed," the statement said.

Pearson, who usually watches matches from the stands anyway, was bullish afterthe incident.

He said: "I've had run-ins with fans in the past and in the heat of the momentthese things happen.

"I'm not going to repeat what happened on either side. I'm very keen toprotect myself and my players. I'm more than happy to stand up for myself inthat situation.

"If people were offended then that is regrettable. But there is no need toapologise to somebody of that ilk."
