Hartlepool United FC vs Oxford United preview - Moore waits on duo

Hartlepool's new manager Ronnie Moore is hoping Tommy Miller and Michael Duckworth can return to contention for his first game in charge.

Midfielder Miller has been sidelined with a calf problem since mid-October, while defender Duckworth has missed the last three games due to a groin injury.

New assistant boss Sam Collins is unlikely to add to his nine appearances for the season as he is still struggling with a knee complaint, but Moore has no new injury or suspension worries.

Bottom club Pools have lost their last five matches in all competitions and have taken only one point from their last eight league games.

Wes Burns could return to Oxford's starting line-up when they make the trip.

The Bristol City loanee was cup-tied for their 2-1 midweek defeat at Tranmere in the FA Cup and will come back into the matchday squad along with John Campbell and Cheyenne Dunkley who were also unavailable.

James Roberts is edging closer to full fitness but the young striker will not make the trip with the busy Christmas period on the horizon while Will Hoskins is also closing in on a first-team return to boost Oxford's attacking options.

Head coach Michael Appleton was able to name just six substitutes as they bowed out of the FA Cup on Tuesday night at Prenton Park.
