Liverpool defender Kolo Toure believes Brendan Rodgers' critics are 'crazy'

KOLO TOURE has branded Brendan Rodgers' critics "crazy".

The Liverpool defender reckons those calling for Kop boss Rodgers to be sacked are foolish.

A number of ex-Reds have been queuing up to criticise the Northern Irishman in the wake of their Champions League exit last week and the 3-0 defeat by Manchester United on Sunday.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher even gave his ex-boss a warning about the club owners' ruthlessness when it comes to sacking managers.

But Toure, 33, stood up for his under-fire manager as the pressure continues to grow around Anfield.

PRESSURE: Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool future has come into question in recent weeks

He said: "It's crazy to even talk about his [Rodgers] future.

"He's a great manager and we all know that. Just look at how fantastic he did last season.

"This season has been tougher for him. But a lot of new players came in and things change. Time is needed for everyone to gel.

"We're all behind him and we're all trying to make things better. In the Premier League things can turn very quickly.

"I believe in this manager and I believe in this group of players. I know we will improve during the second half of the season.

"We are missing some players who will be back soon.

"We all need to improve. We will all do our best to get him and the club out of this situation."

CRAZY: Kolo Toure believes Rodgers is the right man for the job

Liverpool have won just two of their last 10 in all competitions and are now 10 points behind third-placed United.

The Reds are four points worse off than David Moyes' United were after 16 Premier League games last season - and the Scot did not see out the campaign.

Liverpool were flying high at this stage last term and went on to push Manchester City all the way in the title race.

But it's not looking so good now for Rodgers and Co after losing Luis Suarez in the summer and spending a whopping £117m in the summer.

They face a daunting trip to Championship leaders Bournemouth tomorrow [WEDS] night in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals.

But the former Manchester City and Arsenal defender is confident they will get out of their current slump.

He added: "Tough times come and go, and this will go.

"Last season was a great season and this season is more difficult, but a good team always comes back from a difficult time."
