Man Utd defensive woes DEEPEN with Chris Smalling ruled out until Christmas

CHRIS SMALLING has been sidelined for two weeks to add to Louis van Gaal's defensive woes.
The Manchester United star has suffered a groin problem and is expected to miss crucial clashes with Liverpool and Newcastle.
It is the last thing Van Gaal needs as he looks to keep United's winning streak going.
The England international suffered the injury during United's 2-1 win at Southampton on Monday.

He limped off early amid fears he could he facing a lengthy spell out.
But a scan has revealed the injury is not as bad as first feared, although Smalling will be out of action until after Christmas Day.
The news is another setback for Van Gaal as he continues to battle defensive problems.
Luke Shaw remains sidelined with an ankle problem, while Phil Jones is still fighting to overcome a shin injury.
