John-Joe O'Toole is set to face Northampton - just 48 hours after joining Southend from the Cobblers.

The midfielder has moved to Roots Hall on loan with a view to making the deal permanent in January.

Southend boss Phil Brown will assess Ryan Leonard's groin injury with Conor Clifford expected to deputise while midfielder Gary Deegan has signed permanently after his initial short-term deal at Roots Hall expired.

Ben Coker is definitely out as he steps up his rehabilitation from an elbow injury that has kept him out since September.

Ivan Toney is available for Northampton after his move to Wolves collapsed.

The striker was expected to move to Molineux and had been in talks with the Sky Bet Championship club before the deal fell through on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Ollie Banks could make his Cobblers debut after signing on loan from Chesterfield.

Ryan Cresswell (knee) remains out with Tom Newey (ankle), Zander Diamond (ankle), Lewis Hornby and Evan Horwood (match fitness) and Ian Morris (knee) also sidelined.
