Granada CF 0 - 0 Almeria: Alermia hold on for draw

Ramon Azeez was sent off for a second bookable offence as 10-man Almeria held on for a goalless draw at fellow Primera Division strugglers Granada on Monday night.

Azeez saw red in the 52nd minute following a foul on Granada's Manuel Iturra, having already been booked shortly before half-time.

The result ended a run of four straight losses for the visitors, while hosts Granada are now without a Primera Division win in eight matches.

Granada applied most of the early pressure and came close to taking the lead in the 21st minute when Youssef El Arabi's header was tipped over the bar by Almeria keeper Ruben Martinez.

Azeez fired over the bar just before the half hour then Fernando Soriano had another chance for the visitors when his header from the centre of the penalty area flashed wide of target.

Almeria keeper Martinez was back in action in the 35th minute to tip an effort from Piti round the post in what proved the last significant action of the first period.

Martinez easily caught an effort from El Arabi early in the second half and the dismissal of Azeez did not seem to greatly improve Granada's chances of breaking the deadlock.

Instead Jonathan Zongo forced a save out of home keeper Fernandez, while his opposite number Martinez proved more than equal to a late long-range effort from Ruben Rochina.

Juan Carlos had the last chance for the frustrated home side when he shot straight into Martinez's arms three minutes from time, and another effort from Zongo gave Fernandez some work in the last action of the game.
