Vermaelen falls injured once more

Barcelona's Belgian defender, Thomas Vermaelen, has been hit by injury again.

The club has issued a statement explaining the reasons for the centre-back's injury, citing muscular problems in his right leg as the cause, which means he will miss the Champions League match against APOEL on Tuesday. The squad picked to face the Cypriot team is as follows: Ter Stegen, Claudio Bravo, Masip, Montoya, Piqué, Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Xavi, Pedro, Luis Suarez, Messi, Neymar, Rafinha, Mascherano, Bartra, Douglas, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, Adriano, Dani Alves, Mathieu and Munir.

This latest setback will be a big blow for Vermaelen, who has yet to make his debut for the club and only got the green light to play again on 25th September following his last injury, since when he has been working back towards full fitness.
