Montpellier 2 : 0 Toulouse - Montpellier boosted by win

Montpellier's confidence received a much-needed boost on Sunday as they beat Toulouse 2-0.

Rolland Courbis' side had only won one of their last six games in all competitions, but goals from Anthony Mounier and Souleymane Camara earned them the points which lift Montpellier into the top half of the table.

Toulouse's away form remains a cause for concern, however, having lost nine of their last 11 matches on the road in Ligue 1.

Things looked promising for the visitors after eight minutes when Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro's cross into the area found Adrein Regattin at the near post, but his shot was blocked by goalkeeper Geoffrey Jourdren.

That chance shocked Montpellier into life, and Camara's flick into the box was controlled beautifully by Kevin Berigaud before the forward hit a low drive which had to be palmed away by Ali Ahamada in the Toulouse goal.

Ahamada came to the rescue again after 20 minutes, throwing himself behind a powerful right-foot strike from Camara.

However, the home side were ahead six minutes before the interval. Joudren's long goal kick was headed on by Berigaud into the path of Mounier, who steered the ball between Ahamada's legs.

Buoyed by the goal, Montpellier took complete control in the second half and Mounier tried his best to add the finish to a free-kick from Wissam Ben Yedder but pulled his volley wide of a post.

Ahamada also played his part in keeping the home side at bay, blocking a free-kick from Jonas Martin before pushing away Dragos Grigore's left-footed strike.

Montpellier's persistence paid off four minutes from time though, with Djamel Bakar providing the pass for Camara to plant a shot beyond the reach of Ahamada.
