Opportunity knocks for Khedira

Sami Khedira is currently top of the list of prospective midfield replacements for the injured Luka Modric.
Ancelotti does not feel inclined to experiment in the Eibar match and will go for the squad member most accustomed to playing alongside Kroos in midfield. The team will stick with the 4-3-3 and Ancelotti will throw the German a lifeline, a player who has had limited chances to help out his teammates in the past year due to injuries.
A torn cruciate ligament last season and muscle problems plus more knee surgery at the start of this campaign have prevented him from playing regularly, but have not shaken Ancelotti's confidence in him.
Carletto has decided to bring Khedira back into the fold and is set on giving him opportunities despite the club not being convinced of his position in the team. The German is free to negotiate with other clubs from 1st January, the reason Real would prefer Illarra to be given a leg-up in the ranks of the team instead.
The problem is that Ancelotti is uncertain when it comes to the Spaniard, who has also been out injured for three weeks. The Italian coach is therefore set on looking at the problem solely in terms of football and will begin to rebuild the team to include the world champion midfielder, offering Khedira a golden opportunity to prove his worth.
