Jese, forced to change diet through injury

There can be difficult periods stemming from the study and monitoring of each player in the squad with regard to their individual diet and nutrition, often brought about by long-term injury.

In reference to what has happened with Jese, nutritionist Francesco Avaldi has shed some light on the steps to be followed when such a situation arises in the team.

"When a top class player can't train much because of an injury, obviously you need to change his diet so that he doesn't put on too much weight. Once he starts training again, a special diet must also be administered to ensure the change isn't too drastic and to prevent any problems. This also helps to avoid a relapse", Dr Avaldi explained.

"Treating the injured is an interesting case in question in this respect. You have to understand that the dietary supplements and nutrition of an injured player can't be the same as one that isn't injured", Avaldi finished by saying."
