Brechin vs Stirling Albion preview - City eyeing Riordan deal
Posted Monday, November 10, 2014 by PA
Brechin hope to complete a deal to bring former Hibs, Celtic and Scotland striker Derek Riordan to the club in time for a debut against visitors Stirling Albion.
Knee injuries keep Callum Tapping and Craig Molloy out, with a groin problem meaning that Alan Trouten remains absent.
Riordan has featured as a trialist in the Glebe Park side's last two games and manager Ray McKinnon has offered him the chance of a longer stay.
He said: "It would be great to get Derek signed and available to face Stirling. We have made him an offer, however we have still to hear back."
New Stirling Albion boss Stuart McLaren will be without the injured Craig Comrie (stomach muscle), Darren Lee Smith (hamstring) and Lewis Coult (ankle) as he looks to get his league career off to a winning start.
McLaren may need to freshen his side up after his first game in charge ended in a 13-12 spot-kick success over Hurlford United at the weekend after the 120 minutes had ended at 2-2.
The Forthbank boss said: "It was a really committed performance on a very heavy pitch so we may need fresh legs. It was great to win in the cup, however staying in this league is our priority."
