The Chelsea supporter tweeted the abuse to Toure moments after the Ivory Coast international rejoined the social networking site yesterday evening.

Under the username @CFCZone, he tweeted: "@YayaToure shut up you fat ebola infected n** n** go back to the cotton field you f****** reject."

The troll immediately deleted the tweet and shortly afterwards closed the account.

Earlier today, the man who claims to be the owner of the account contacted Starsport to apologise for his outburst.

Tweeting from the account @Mikelesque, he said: "I'd like to apologise for my racist tweet against Yaya Toure. I've tweeted it from CFCZone and have closed the account and I've deleted the tweet right after all the reactions came in mentions.
