Manchester United goalie David de Gea has netted a stunning girlfriend – and she's looking like a keeper.

After an impressive run of form between the sticks, the Old Trafford shot stopper has won praise for his defensive abilities.

And off the pitch he is also playing a blinder with gorgeous Spanish pop star Edurne Garcia Almagro.

De Gea – in action today in a crunch Premier League fixture against Manchester City – has been dating the blonde singer since 2009.

Madrid-born Edurne, 28, is a chart star in Spain and has previously toured with a stage version of Grease.

Last night a source said: "Recently David seems to have come of age at Old Trafford."

"United might not have had a great start to the season but David has been a revelation with some of his performances."

After a slow start to his career at United, the 23-year-old Spain international – an £18.9million signing from Atletico Madrid in 2011 – has gained a loyal following among the Old Trafford faithful.

Last week, United goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel, 50, praised De Gea's form this season as "exceptional".

He said he was bringing "stability" to manager Louis van Gaal's side with the "way he controlled his six-yard box and came for crosses".
