Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund preview - Pep still wary of Dortmund threat

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola insists Borussia Dortmund are still his side's biggest rivals in the Bundesliga, even if 14 positions and 14 points separate the two sides ahead of their clash at the Allianz Arena on Saturday evening.

Dortmund have made their worst start to a season in decades with six defeats already leaving them languishing near the foot of the table.

Bayern have also dropped a gear compared to last season and last weekend's goalless draw against Borussia Monchengladbach was already the third time they had failed to win this season.

Last year, it took them 28 games before they dropped points for a third time, but Guardiola does not care about the statistics or league positions, saying that his side still have a tough 90 minutes ahead this weekend.

"It's only October," he said. "You can't always win and you can't always lose. Football is a process.

"We are up against the best Dortmund side tomorrow. They have great players with great experience.

"In this situation, Dortmund are going to be even harder to play against."

Nevertheless, Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is hoping Bayern and in particular former Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski have an off day if his side are to repeat their 3-0 win in Munich from last season and establish some breathing space at the bottom of the table.

"On the right day, anybody is beatable," Klopp said at a press conference. "The difficulty is knowing when that day is.

"Robert is a challenge too, no doubt about it. But from our own experience, we know that he doesn't always put the ball in.

"That's why it would be pretty cool if he had one of those days on Saturday. Then he can be like a bomber again afterwards."

Lewandowski may not have Arjen Robben supporting him with the Holland winger missing Bayern's last two games since their 7-1 Champions League victory against Roma, but Franck Ribery should be fit to start.

Klopp still has plenty of injury concerns, but Oliver Kirch could be an option again this weekend.
