Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso attended his first ever Oktoberfest beer festival in Munich in order to celebrate his team's 4-0 victory over Hannover, thereby increasing Bayern's lead in the German Bundesliga.
Dressed in the traditional attire of leather trousers, a checked red and white shirt and a green, felt hunting hat, Alonso arrived at the festival with his wife, Nagore. The couple went straight to the tent of the exclusive restaurant Käfer, where the Bayern squad celebrate Oktoberfest every year.
"It's great. I had seen many pictures of the Oktoberfest celebrations, but you really have to be here", enthused the ex-Real player, who assured that it was "the greatest popular festival in the world". Oktoberfest attracts 6.3 million people during its three weeks of celebration.
"We can drink all that our body's will allow", joked the Bayern player the day after playing a leading role in his side's victory.
For the team's manager, however, the visit to the festival was much shorter. Guardiola, who also arrived with his wife, left just a few hours later to fly to Turin in order to observe Bayern's next rivals in the Champions League, Roma, play against Juventus.
Most of the Bayern players arrived at the party on board the club's coach. The only two that didn't were striker Manuel Neuer, who preferred to use the metro, and Schweinsteiger, who is suffering from tonsillitis.
