Borussia Dortmund 0 : 1 Hamburger - Dortmund shocked by Hamburg

Hamburg picked up their first win of the season to pile the misery on Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion, where they have won only once this season.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga scored the northern Germany side's only second goal of the season, but that proved to be enough for all three points, lifting them off the foot of the table, above their rivals Werder Bremen.

Dortmund, so spectacular in Europe this season, slipped to within two points of the bottom three and a full 10 points behind league leaders Bayern Munich after their latest disappointing result in the Bundesliga.

Nicolai Muller threw himself in the way of Marcel Schmelzer's shot, underlining the kind of spirit Hamburg were to show at the Westfalenstadion if they were to come away with anything.

Muller had Hamburg's first chance at the other end, shooting wide from a tight angle with the Dortmund defence showing signs of weakness.

Another moment of slack defending saw Muller race through on goal, squaring for Lasogga as Erik Durm caught up with him, and the club's top scorer from last season opened his account for the current campaign with one of his easiest goals into an empty net.

It was the same story a minute before half-time when the next defensive mistake was almost capitalised on by Muller, who intercepted a backpass but found the angle too tight to beat Roman Weidenfeller.

Dortmund were met by whistles from the fans when the half-time whistle sounded, although they re-emerged to vociferous encouragement from the Westfalenstadion faithful.

They were almost stunned to silence after just over an hour when former Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby crossed for Heiko Westermann to head towards the far corner, but Weidenfeller appeared from out of nowhere with an outstretched hand to turn the ball away.

Ten minutes later, Adrian Ramos's header from Marcel Schmelzer's cross was saved in equally outstanding fashion by Jaroslav Drobny before Ciro Immobile, only on the field for a handful of seconds, sent his shot wide with only the Hamburg goalkeeper to beat.

Holtby sent a shot agonisingly across the face of goal having rounded Weidenfeller as Hamburg looked for the chance to seal victory whenever Dortmund committed too many men forwards.

Hamburg held out even the unusually long five minutes of stoppage time, by Bundesliga standards, to pick up a crucial win, and prompt more whistles from the home fans.
