Luton Town vs Oxford United preview - Late checks for Luton
Posted Friday, September 26, 2014 by PA
Luton boss John Still will check on several players ahead of the visit of Oxford.
Paul Benson (hamstring), Luke Rooney, Jake Howells (foot) and Curtley Williams will all be assessed on Friday. However, Jonathan Smith is available, having trained this week after a groin strain kept him out of last weekend's 1-0 win at Cambridge, while Alex Lacey sustained a knock against the U's but he is likely to be available.
Shaun Whalley (foot) completed 90 minutes for the development squad on Tuesday while recent signing Nathan Doyle managed 70 minutes of that game, meaning both could come into Still's thoughts for Saturday.
Paul Connolly, Alex Lawless and Fraser Franks remain unavailable, though.
Oxford have no fresh injury worries as they look to extend their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League Two to five games.
United, who drew 0-0 with Stevenage last weekend, could name an unchanged line-up as they look to pull away from 22nd position.
Michael Appleton does have a number of options if he decides to freshen up his side with Danny Rose, Michael Raynes, Alfie Potter and Junior Brown all pushing for starts.
Goalkeeper Ryan Clarke and defender Andy Whing featured for United's development side on Monday but they look unlikely to feature against the Hatters having been sidelined for a long spell.
