Shrewsbury Town vs Newport County preview - Gayle forces Mellon to wait

Shrewsbury boss Micky Mellon could still be without Cameron Gayle and Andy Robinson when they host Newport.

The duo missed Tuesday's 1-0 win over Carlisle with respective ankle and quad injuries and will be assessed.

The victory came after a trio of defeats and boss Mellon expects another test against the Exiles.

He told the club's official site: "It's another tough game and one that may be different to the Carlisle game, but we're ready for it and we've got lads who can adapt and find a way to win games."

Newport will be without Kevin Feely when they make their second away trip of the week.

Boss Justin Edinburgh has questioned the Football League's decision to send his side to Tranmere on Tuesday night and then to Shrewsbury this weekend, but one player who will not make the trip is Irishman Feely, who has been suffering from a toe injury.

Edinburgh hopes to have defenders Ryan Jackson and Ismail Yakubu available again and if the pair are missing then the club's academy graduates, including 16-year-old Regan Poole - who was involved on Tuesday - may well make the matchday squad.

Charlton loanee Joe Pigott will hope to keep his place after making his first Exiles start on Tuesday.
