Luiz Gustavo happy at Wolfsburg, Mesut Ozil set for Bundesliga return

Sometimes it's not about where you are going, but where you aren't going that really matters (or something like that). Here's today's "going-nowhere" edition of Transfer Talk. You'll be glad you stayed.

Gustavo going nowhere

Rumours of Luiz Gustavo's departure from Wolfsburg for Arsenal have been greatly overstated according to a talkSport report.

The Brazilian was one of many on the host nation's squad to underperform at the World Cup, but he's been a solid contributor for his Bundesliga side since moving over from Bayern Munich. The defensive midfielder has four goals in 33 games with his team.

We're not sure what it would take to lure Gustavo away from Wolfsburg. Judging from the way Borussia Dortmund battered the Gunners' defence in their first Champions League meeting on Tuesday and having just lost Mathieu Debuchy for a good spell, Arsene Wenger and company could use the help.

But help's not coming until January at least, and for now, Gustavo's very happy and thinks Wolfsburg is a great club. "Wolfsburg is a workers' city, and that suits me," he said.

'Cuz Ozil he's coming home?

The English press won't have Mesut Ozil to kick around anymore. That's because the English press, courtesy of The Guardian this time, is reporting that the much-maligned midfielder is set for a January return to Germany and the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.

Warranted or not, Ozil has been bashed pretty heavily during his short stint with Arsenal, yet he seems to be an integral part of the German national squad. Bayern is loaded with players from the World Cup winners -- Thomas Muller, Phillip Lahm and Manuel Neuer -- so the move makes sense on the field.

But January is a long way off and if Ozil underperforms -- or at least is perceived to -- in the next two months, it's hard to imagine Pep and Bayern coughing up the rumoured 40 million pound transfer fee to bring Herr Ozil back in the fold. Plus Arsene Wenger never misses an opportunity to sing Ozil's praises.

So despite the allure of this one, Ozil is also going nowhere.

Xavi happy where he is

"If it was up to me I'd never leave Barcelona, but circumstances are what decide these things," said Barcelona legend Xavi in a recent report on AS.com.

Last week, Transfer Talk had a bit about Xavi turning down a proposed move to Old Trafford over the summer. It turns out the Spanish international and club giant is fine right where he's been all along.

"I could have left many times but my feelings always won out. I told the club that I didn't want to play for another team in Europe; I didn't want to play against Barcelona. I would like to end my career here."
