Eibar 0 : 1 Deportivo La Coruna - Dominguez effort enough for Depor

Deportivo La Coruna ground out their first victory of the Primera Division season as they recorded a narrow 1-0 win away to Eibar.

Juan Dominguez's 13th-minute goal proved the difference as Depor triumphed against the team who finished above them in the Segunda Division last season.

The visitors began well but their breakthrough owed a lot to a defensive mistake from Eneko Boveda.

Juanfran's initial cross from the right was blocked by a defender but the Deportivo midfielder swung in another ball and Boveda directed it straight to Dominguez, who had the simple task of converting from six yards out.

Eibar responded well and pushed forward in search of an equaliser but struggled to create any clear-cut chances.

With 39 minutes gone, Javi Lara connected well with a shot but it was blocked by Laure on the edge of the area.

Eibar wanted a penalty a few minutes later when Angel Rodriguez went down under pressure from Luisinho as he tried to get his head to a cross, but the referee waved away their appeals.

Half-time substitute Dani Nieto came close to an equaliser within three minutes of his introduction after ending a mazy run with a fine shot that goalkeeper German Lux had to push over the bar.

The former Barcelona B player then shot into the side netting but - although the hosts continued to do most of the attacking for the rest of the game - Deportivo stood up to the pressure well to secure a valuable three points.
