Eintracht Frankfurt 0 - 1 Augsburg: Bobadilla gets Augsburg off mark

Augsburg picked up their first win of the season and condemned Eintracht Frankfurt to their first defeat thanks to a solitary Raul Bobadilla strike.

The Argentinian struck early in the second half to break the deadlock at the Commerzbank-Arena and earn the Bavarians their first points of the season, lifting the pressure off their coach Markus Weinzierl.

Frankfurt not only failed to score for the first time this season, but they lost their unbeaten record in going down to their first ever defeat at home to Augsburg.

After an even opening, Frankfurt got in the first shot with Takashi Inui testing Marwin Hitz from distance.

The Augsburg goalkeeper turned the ball behind for a corner, from which Vaclav Kadlec went to ground after having his shirt tugged, but the referee did not see the foul and waved play on.

Kadlec then forced a save from Hitz with a shot from just outside the penalty area before trying a neat backheel from Haris Seferovic's cross, missing the far post by a matter of inches.

Augsburg's response came from Bobadilla, who was first denied by Kevin Trapp and then saw a goal disallowed for an offside decision validated by a touch by an Augsburg player as the ball went through to the Argentinian.

The visitors started the second half brighter and Tobias Werner saw his shot saved well by Trapp before his second shot on the rebound beat the Frankfurt goalkeeper, but not Constant Djakpa on the line.

A minute later, though, the ball was in the back of the net, and there was no stopping Bobadilla celebrating this time as his shot clipped the far post on its way in.

Frankfurt's perennial top-scorer Alexander Meier was sent on, but he was unable to change the outcome of the game with Tobias Werner twice hitting the post as Augsburg took the spoils for the first time this season.
