Van Gaal identifies James Wilson as future of Manchester United's attack

Louis van Gaal believes James Wilson can follow in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie to become a superstar at Manchester United.

According to Jamie Jackson of The Guardian, Van Gaal has identified Wilson as the future of United's attacking force in the short space of time he has been working with the 18-year-old.

Following the sale of Danny Welbeck, Van Gaal has been criticised for going against the traditions of the club by selling a home-grown talent but in youngsters like Tyler Blackett and Wilson, Van Gaal intends to stick to the traditions by using players he firmly believes in.

Those who have watched Wilson's rise are all in agreement that he has what it takes to become a superstar at United.

For someone who is just 18, he carries a real presence on the pitch and is a fantastic natural finisher, scoring goals comes easily to him. Off the pitch Wilson is just as impressive and can more than hold his own in front of a camera.

Last year, Adnan Januzaj was the player who broke through into the first-team and he is now United's new No.11.

This year, there is every chance Wilson will burst onto the scene and become the latest player from United’s academy to venture into first-team football at Old Trafford, but he certainly won't be the last.
