Bradford AFC 1 : 2 Swindon - Obika double downs Bantams
Posted Sunday, September 14, 2014 by PA
Swindon striker Jonathan Obika scored both goals as his side condemned Bradford to their third home league defeat in a row with a 2-1 win at Valley Parade.
Obika, a recent B#200,000 signing from Tottenham, helped fire Swindon to their first away win in the league this season.
Bradford had the chance to go in front in the third minute when visiting goalkeeper Wes Foderingham tripped Billy Clarke but the keeper dived to his left to keep out Alan Sheehan's penalty.
Bradford made amends by taking the lead after 10 minutes when Louis Thompson slid in to prevent Mark Yeates' left-wing cross reaching Jason Kennedy, only to divert the ball into his own net.
Swindon equalised after 23 minutes when Bradley Smith's corner was headed back across goal by Michael Smith and Obika scored with a close-range header.
The skilful visitors continued to pose a threat in attack and Obika put them ahead two minutes before half-time with a 10-yard shot after the Bradford defence had failed to clear Nathan Byrne's corner.
Sheehan, sent off in the closing stages for a second yellow card, and Billy Clarke went close for Bradford, but the home side could not force an equaliser.
