Bolton Wanderers vs Sheffield Wed. preview - McNaughton doubtful for Wanderers

Bolton boss Dougie Freedman hopes Kevin McNaughton can overcome illness to feature against Sheffield Wednesday.

The full-back is fully fit following a hamstring complaint but now has another issue to overcome if he is to make winless Wanderers' squad.

Midfielder Liam Trotter (hamstring) is out for two months while defenders David Wheater (back) and Marc Tierney (broken leg) are also definitely missing.

Owen Garvan could make his debut after arriving on loan from Crystal Palace this week while fellow midfielder Mark Davies (toe) is still waiting to make his first appearance of the season.

Sheffield Wednesday's recent loan signing Royston Drenthe is hoping to make his first appearance for the club.

The Reading winger, frozen out by Royals boss Nigel Adkins after a fall out, could start for Stuart Gray's side and is likely to be at least on the bench.

Skipper Glenn Loovens sits out a one-game ban after receiving five yellow cards in his first six matches. Kamil Zayatte could step in at centre-half or Gray could opt to hand new French signing Claude Dielna his debut.

Fellow defender Lewis Buxton is pushing for his first appearance of the season after a knee injury, but midfield pair Kieran Lee (groin) and Sam Hutchinson (back) will play no part.
