Reus ruled out for a month

The 25-year-old has damaged the same ankle that kept him out of the World Cup and could miss as many as nine matches

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Marco Reus will miss approximately four weeks of action after picking up another ankle injury in Germany's 2-1 Euro 2016 qualifying victory over Scotland on Sunday night.

The attacker missed the World Cup due to an injury to his right ankle and following a challenge from Charlie Mulgrew at Signal Iduna Park there were fears that the joint had suffered another serious problem.

Dortmund have, however, indicated that his injury is not as serious as the 25-year-old’s previous issue.

BVB team doctor Markus Braun has suggested that Reus has strained his ligaments and will require four weeks rehabilitation to allow the injury to heal fully.

While it is good news for the Bundesliga runners-up that one of their most valued players will not miss too many fixtures, he has been ruled out of the Champions League clash with Arsenal in little over a week, while he will also likely miss the second fixture versus Anderlecht away from home. Additionally, he could miss as many as five league matches.

Reus now faces a race to be fit for Germany’s next Euro 2016 qualifying matches, which take place against Poland and the Republic of Ireland in mid-October.
