Adrien Regattin scored a sensational free-kick as Toulouse claimed a 1-0 win over Evian in Saturday night's Ligue 1 action at the Stadium Municipal.
Regattin fired in a curling 25-yard effort in the 78th minute to see off the visitors and move his side up to 11th place in the overall standings with two wins from their opening four games.
Evian were forced to play the last eight minutes with 10 men after Aldo Angoula was sent off following his second booking of the match.
Both sides took some time to get a grip on the game, with Toulouse's Wissam Ben Yedder having the first real chance in the 25th minute when he controlled Abel Aguilar's ball-in while inside the area and shot just wide.
Djakaridja Kone went close at the other end with a long range effort before Martin Braithwaite squandered a chance with only the goalkeeper to beat as he fired straight at Evian stopper Jesper Hansen.
Evian went the closest to scoring just before the break, though, when Daniel Wass claimed the ball and broke towards goal, only to be denied by a fantastic save by Toulouse goalkeeper Zacharie Boucher.
The two sides left the field deadlocked at 0-0 at the break, but it was the home side who looked the most dangerous after the interval with Aleksandar Pesic forcing a difficult save from Hansen.
Regattin then made the breakthrough the home fans had been hoping for when he curled a 25-yard free-kick straight into the top left corner of the Evian goal.
Angoula was dismissed shortly afterwards leaving Evian stretched for the closing minutes, with Ben Yedder denied by Hansen from a free-kick.
Boucher then claimed Nicolas Benezet's late curling effort to make sure of the clean sheet and maximum points for his side.
