Cambridge cruised past Carlisle 5-0 to ensure the visitors' winless start to the season continued at the Abbey Stadium.

The hosts struck three times in 20 minutes to decide the contest before half-time. Midfielder Issa Diallo opened the scoring with his first goal for the club after 25 minutes, drilling a fine left-foot effort into the bottom corner of the net from outside the area.

Diallo turned provider eight minutes later, crossing from the right for Robbie Simpson to loop a header beyond Mark Gillespie to double the U's advantage.

It was 3-0 a minute before the interval as Simpson netted his second from close range after Tom Elliott broke away on the right and pulled the ball back into his path.

Seven minutes from time debutant Jayden Stockley headed Greg Taylor's cross beyond Gillespie five minutes after coming on as a substitute. He scored his second - and his side's fifth - three minutes from time, flicking in fellow substitute Bobby-Joe Taylor's free-kick to secure Cambridge's first victory since the opening day.
