Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt preview - Hecking hopes for better

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking is hoping for a result to match his side's performance this weekend when Eintracht Frankfurt pay the VW-Arena a visit.

Had Junior Malanda not provided one of the early candidates for miss of the season in last Friday's opening Bundesliga fixture at Bayern Munich, the Wolves could well have come away from the Allianz Arena with a point.

Instead, they returned home empty-handed.

"Go to any amateur football match on a Sunday afternoon and you can hear people saying 'at least you played well', but you can't get anything for that," said Hecking, who now wants his side to put the first points of the season on the board.

"In the end, it will be down to us whether we win this game or not."

While Hecking may feel his side were a little hard done by in losing last weekend, he believes Frankfurt had luck on their side in their 1-0 win over Freiburg.

"It could have ended as a draw," he said.

"But it was important for Frankfurt to win their first game of the season, although I think they can play better than they did."

Their coach Thomas Schaaf concurs, although he does not yet see his side on a par with their hosts just yet.

"It's going to be a while before we can frustrate the big clubs," he told Eurosport.

"It's going to be hard enough for us on Saturday.

"But I think it's always good to be courageous and not have any fear. If I can get these characteristics into Frankfurt, then I would certainly be pleased."

Hecking is still without the injured Diego Benaglio, but Aaron Hunt is available despite cutting his leg in training on Tuesday.
