Accrington Stanley vs Luton Town preview - Lynch to face Luton

Posted Friday, August 22, 2014 by PA

Jay Lynch looks set to get the nod in goal for Accrington against Luton.

Luke Simpson will serve a one-game suspension after being sent off in the 4-0 hammering to Shrewsbury on Tuesday, with Lynch now set to start after coming on in that game.

Andrew Dawber still has a pre-season injury so James Beattie may go without a substitute goalkeeper for winless Stanley, who are also likely to recall Kal Naismith to their attack.

Defender Michael Liddle is still a doubt with a knock sustained on the opening day of the season against Southend.

Luton will check on Paul Connolly.

Connolly is one of a handful of right-sided players who have been out injured so far this season but the full-back could be fit for the trip to the north west.

However, fellow defender Curtley Williams and midfielders Shaun Whalley and Alex Lawless will remain on the sidelines. Andy Parry, Jonathan Smith and Ricky Miller are also unavailable.

"We're a touch unbalanced down the right," said Hatters boss John Still. "We've been missing Connolly, we've had no Curtley, no Whalley, no Lawless. None of them are long term, it's more niggly stuff than anything else. Paul Connolly may make the weekend. If he doesn't, he'll certainly make next week."
