Barnsley vs Gillingham preview - Tykes wait on duo

Barnsley duo James Bailey and Keith Treacy face late fitness tests before the visit of Gillingham

The pair both played through the pain barrier of tight groins in Tuesday night's draw at Coventry.

"They came through the game but I'm not too sure we'll see them both again this Saturday, we'll have to wait and see," manager Danny Wilson told Barnsley Player after praising their commitment to the cause.

Striker Kane Hemmings came off the bench late on for his first bit of action this season, while new loan signing Devante Cole was also used as a substitute for Leroy Lita, who gained more match sharpness and netted for the second time in successive games.

George Smith remains sidelined but goalkeeper Ross Turnbull could be pushing for a recall as he recovers from a back problem and Dale Jennings returns from the three-match ban he received for a straight red card on the opening day of the campaign.

Gillingham manager Peter Taylor faces an ever-growing injury list.

Captain Doug Loft (Achilles) and Welsh midfielder Aaron Morris (glute) were both late exclusions from the disappointing midweek draw with Swindon while Joe Martin (knee) and Josh Hare (concussion) also missed out.

Loanee Stephen Bywater came in for injured goalkeeper Stuart Nelson (thumb) but, despite gifting a late equaliser to the Robins, the former Derby shot-stopper is expected to keep his place.

Gills boss Taylor could face a touchline ban after being sent to the stands following an altercation with Swindon manager Mark Cooper on Tuesday.
