Peterborough vs Sheffield United preview - Clough plots changes

Sheffield United boss Nigel Clough has threatened to ring the changes ahead of Tuesday night's trip to Peterborough after starting the season with two straight League One defeats.

"We aren't a settled side yet," Clough told the Blades' official website. "Nobody, apart from Mark Howard, is nailed on for a start; we need several players to rediscover their best form and as quickly as possible."

Defender Jay McElvey will be one of those pushing for a starting place after coming off the bench for his United debut in Saturday's 1-0 loss to Coventry after joining from Swindon last week.

Clough has confirmed that summer capture Andy Butler was left out of the Sixfields trip based on form alone, while United hope that former Tranmere midfielder James Wallace will soon recover from a groin injury.

Peterborough will be without Kenny McEvoy.

McEvoy, on loan from Tottenham, scored his first career goal on Saturday as Posh defeated MK Dons 3-2 but shortly afterwards he had to be substituted because of a foot injury.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international winger will miss out against the Blades, with the club awaiting the results of a scan.

Midfielder Joe Newell has recovered from the broken toe that has kept him out so far this season but manager Darren Ferguson remains without his first-choice centre-halves Jack Baldwin (knee) and Gabby Zakuani (hamstring). Both players are out for about a month after suffering injuries on the opening day of the season.
