Cheltenham Town vs Accrington Stanley preview - Taylor to boost Robins

Cheltenham captain Matt Taylor is set to return to action when they host Accrington.

The former Charlton centre-back, who started their opening-day win over Bury despite having suffered an injury in the build-up to the season, was rested for the Robins' midweek defeat at Brighton.

But boss Mark Yates revealed that Taylor has benefited from sitting out Tuesday night's clash and he could return to action against Stanley.

Cheltenham, who will remain without Asa Hall for another four to six weeks, could keep Jack Deaman in their side after an impressive Capital One Cup debut from the 21-year-old.

Will Hatfield is in contention to start again for Accrington after overcoming a knock from the weekend.

The midfielder was dropped to the bench as a precaution for Stanley's 2-1 Capital One Cup loss to Leeds at Elland Road and Hatfield came on for the final 15 minutes to face his former club.

Striker James Alabi, on loan from Stoke, made his first start for James Beattie's side and he may retain his place for the trip to Whaddon Road.

Goalkeeper Luke Simpson could restrict new signing Jay Lynch to a place on the bench after impressing in the opening games.
