Khedira nears exit door

Real Madrid remain in no rush to sell players this summer. The club announced before the World Cup that the plan was to hardly touch the squad, but some players are on the market and have offers on the table, notably Khedira and Di María, who competed against each other in Sunday's final with differing fortunes.
Although Di María seemed to be closer to the exit door, the signing of Kroos, who will have a medical and sign for the club this week, paves the way for his countryman to seek pastures new. Furthermore, the German has only one year left on his contract, unlike the Argentine. It is telling that progress has been made on only one side of Real Madrid's pre-World Cup announcement to look into extending both Benzema and Khedira's contracts. The Frenchman's new deal with 'Los Blancos' could be announced when he returns from holiday.
Ancelotti is counting on Khedira, although the German is yet to respond to Real Madrid's proposal to lengthen his spell in the Spanish capital. If the club does decide to cash in on somebody in order to boost funds to bring in a new face, the preferred option would be to sell Khedira, especially if he does not express his commitment to stay. Real Madrid are counting on Sami Khedira, but are doubting whether the German thinks the same.
