£35m deal could be good for United, Vidal latest

Here is the latest Manchester United transfer gossip from around the web including the latest on Arturo Vidal and Patrice Evra.

The exit of Patrice Evra from Manchester United looks all but complete at this stage with a deal for Juventus looking like a formality.

Something interesting that has emerged about the deal is that Evra asked to leave United to push through his transfer after his one-year contract extension was automatically renewed by the club, potentially to ensure Evra couldn’t leave on a free.

As United were in talks with Juventus, it was hoped Arturo Vidal talks could continue but reports suggest none took place, so we’ll still have to wait and see how any move for Vidal pans out for United.

Alexis Sanchez had been linked with Old Trafford following Chile’s exit from the World Cup but last night he completed a £35m move to Arsenal, which is a fantastic signing for them even if they still need a striker.

What that deal does is shift United’s focus back towards Angel di Maria, a player who many saw as a preferred choice than Sanchez given that Louis van Gaal could potentially have a similar impact on the Argentinian to what he had with Arjen Robben with Holland.

One of Robben’s compatriots Stefan de Vrij has also been the centre of heavy United speculation and reports are once again saying he’ll be moving to Lazio, like they were weeks ago, but nothing has yet been formalised.
