OFF TO LA LIGA: Suarez

Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are both keen on the Uruguay superstar.

Reports in Spain claim Suarez wants to quit Anfield, despite only signing a new five-year deal in December.

Liverpool are bracing themselves for a battle to keep their star man who scored twice last week to beat England and send Roy Hodgson's men spiralling towards World Cup elimination.

The 25-year-old's contract contains a massive release clause.

Details of the clause are being kept under wraps by Liverpool but it is believed to be more than the £68m quoted in Spain at the weekend.

Both Spanish clubs are waiting for a clear indication from Suarez's camp that he is interested in a move away from Anfield.

Suarez's wife Sofia's family live in Castelldefels, a Catalunya town just 18 miles outside Barcelona.

And his father-in-law, Gustavo Balbi, has told him to get to Spain.

"Luis has nothing left to prove in England," he said.Luis Suarez told to leave Liverpool for Barcelona or Real Madrid by his father-in-law

"It'd be the right time to move to Spain. It doesn't matter whether it's one team or the other.

"He will not go to another team in England out of respect for Liverpool."

Uruguay face Italy this evening in their final group game, looking for the win that would send them through at the expense of the Azzurri.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are eyeing up a £20m move for Barca's Chile star Alexis Sanchez after the World Cup.

But they do not want to do a deal involving Suarez going the other way.
