NO BIDS: Real Madrid and Barcelona won't bid for Luis Suarez unless the players agent indicates that the Uruguay striker wants to leave Anfield

The Reds are not interested in listening to offers for the player and they have yet to be contacted by either La Liga club contrary to reports in Spain yesterday.

Suarez, 27, signed a new five-year deal in December and boss Brendan Rodgers is confident their will be no repeat of last summer's soap opera.

The Uruguay hitman begged for a move away with Arsenal putting in a bizarre bid of £40m plus £1 to try to activate a release clause they believed he had in his contract.

Rodgers does not expect Suarez to want to leave even if Europe's top sides come knocking after they delivered Champions League football.

And the striker could cost any interested club close to £100m to prise him away from Anfield.

The new release clause in Suarez's contract has been kept firmly under wraps, but it is believed that there is no fee that would force Liverpool to listen to offers from English clubs.

And the fee for foreign clubs could be more than the eye-watering £86m Real paid Tottenham for Gareth Bale.

Both Real and Barcelona are considering their options and will assess the situation after the World Cup when Suarez's ambitions become clearer.

Barcelona are currently slashing their wage bill with high earner Cesc Fabregas sold to Chelsea, Carles Puyol retiring, and Victor Valdes and Xavi also linked with moves away.

That could free up cash to make a swoop for Suarez, but the striker may be content to stay at Anfield for another season at least.

Suarez admitted yesterday Roy Hodgson was the inspiration behind his two-goal destruction of England.Real Madrid and Barcelona WON'T bid for Liverpool star Luis Suarez this summer

The Liverpool striker admits he was fired up to sink the Three Lions when boss Hodgson said he was not worthy of being classed as a world-class player.

When asked about Suarez ahead of England's vital Group D game in Sao Paolo Hodgson responded: "He (Suarez) will only be at that level when he shows it on this particular stage (the World Cup)."

That remark, alongside speculation about his lack of fitness following a knee op four weeks ago only made Suarez even more determined to beat England.

"It wasn't revenge, but in England they talked about the injury and the coach had words that annoyed (me)," Suarez said.

Suarez celebrated his first goal by hugging team physio Walter Ferreira, who he credits for helping him make a rapid recovery.

"My wife and my two children are important to me and Walter is also important, the goals were for him because of what he did for me," Suarez added.
