Leicester stars set for £280k bonus EACH after sealing Premier League promotion
BIG MONEY: Leicester's players are set for a cash bonus after landing promotion to the top flight

Leicester 's heroes will bank up to £280,000-a-man after sealing promotion back to the Premier League.

And some will also see their wages double next season after ending the club's 10-year wait for a return to the top-flight.

Nigel Pearson's top players had pay-rise clauses written into their deals and will be in the money when they get their hands on a slice of Leicester's £5m bonus pot.

Foxes stars agreed the scheme at the start of the season and will now reap the rewards after their top-flight place was confirmed on Saturday with six games to go.

Players will receive around £6,000 for each match-day squad they have been involved in this season.

And that means the likes of main men Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan, Danny Drinkwater, David Nugent and Jamie Vardy will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Leicester can fund the bonus payments and wage increases from the estimated £55m extra they will earn from TV money alone next year.

They are also guaranteed around £60m from parachute payments - even if they get relegated after just one season back in the top flight.

"To secure promotion with six games remaining is a great achievement, but we want to see the job through properly," he said.

"We are back to work now and ready to focus on a tough game against a very good side."
